Material in the collection covers the author's work between 1957 and 1969, including fourteen plays and at least two entitled novels. One play, The Trial of Judas, is covered in depth, with a carbon of the final draft, correspondence between Pendleton and the play's director, expansions of the play after first rehearsals, and a playing copy used by the title character. Also included are autograph copies of an untitled novel and the plan which has been adapted from it. The collection includes issues of journals containing or comprising Pendleton's plays, including: Judas im VerhoĢr (issue 188 of Spiele der Zeit), The brief and violent reign of Absalom (in Religious theatre, no. 7), and Rite of passage (in New Virginia review, vol. 2)
